The signature program of Top Dogg K9 Foundation is Veterans Deserve Outstanding Generosity and Service (VDOGS), an integrated canine-companion service program that pairs veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other conditions correlated with a suicide attempt, suicidal ideation, and suicide. The program pairs veterans with canine service animals trained to serve in therapeutic capacities for participants’ health and well-being. To date, the Lilburn-based foundation has paired 79 dogs with military veterans in need, according to its website. Top Dogg K9 Foundation founders Blake and Sheila Rashad are both U.S. Army veterans. Blake Rashad served in the Army as a K-9 dog trainer. He has been training dogs since age 12. Top Dogg K9 was honored among Organizations That Support Veterans in Atlanta Business Chronicle’s inaugural Veterans in Business Awards.
